Build by unemployed people with a low level of education, built in Boom (B) on the banks of the river Rupel. This project was the first to play a social role with support from VDAB (Flemish government employment agency). In building the ship the participants learned skills such as woodworking, making it much easier for them to find permanent employment afterwards.
The Rupel is now operated by T-Intrim (VDAB) , not only as a school ship but also for incentive trips and pure chartering.
