she was bombed by the IRA on 6 September 1990, she was launched four months before.
One bomb exploded in the engine room, causing flooding and serious damage, the ship listed 45 degrees, and the chances of sinking were high.
The second device didn't explode and was defused several days later.
Nobody got injured after a telephone warning from the IRA.

The attack resulted in a two-year delay before Fort Victoria became fully operational and was commissioned on 24 June 1994.
