Here you can see the R97 on her last port visit in Zeebrugge (BE) before going to Brest (FR) for her final off-loading. Was to be broken up after.
Originally named La RĂ©solute because the name Jeanne D' Arc was still in use by the 1930 built cruiser Jeanne D' Arc. The R97 was converted to training ship and the hanger served as accommodation for about 140 cadets. But in case of emergency or crisis, she was to have become a fully capable helicopter cruiser. |
