On 22/07/2011, while underway from Bordeaux (FR) towards Rotterdam (NL), she lost stability and listed heavily near the Ile of Oleron.
The rescue tug Abeille Languedoc rescued all 6 crewmembers.

Travelling at low speed, the two vessels tried to reach port of La Pallice (FR).
However, the Union Neptune listed over and sunk after a few hours.
