She was marketed as MSC Melody in 2004, but her official registered name remained Melody throughout her MSC career
On 29 June 2016, the ship partially sank while docked in Goa, India. The sinking was caused by heavy monsoon rains.
Nobody was on board at the time the ship sank.
As of May 2017, the ship is still partially sunk and grounded at its berth
In November 2017, The Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) has petitioned the high court to declare the abandoned 'MV Qing' ship and floating dry dock of Western India Shipyard Limited (WISL) as 'wrecks', after the management and owners failed to respond to their communications.
The ship was eventually re-floated by a salvage company in June 2018 and was soon after sold for demolition and scrapped. |
